About This Lesson
This engaging lesson teaches students what it means to be a United States senator. Students will read an excerpt from “My Senator and Me” by Senator Edward M. Kennedy to gain insight into the day to day lives of senators. Students will then get to act as senators themselves, working in small groups to create legislative solutions to problems facing the country.
While this lesson was originally designed in conjunction with our programs at the Edward M. Kennedy Institute, it can now be used as a stand alone lesson in your classroom!
